The Colombo is the first and only optical biometer
provides 4 mm real-time OCT imaging of the cornea and retina simultaneously during the acquisition

Based on the PCT patented technology, the Colombo IOL is the first and only optical biometer that provides 4 mm real-time OCT imaging of the cornea and retina simultaneously during the acquisition, which allows real-time fixation check, retinal screening, and choroidal thickness analysis.

The Colombo IOL measures up to 8 parameters in a single scan, including AXL, CCT, keratometry, ACD, WTW, pupil size, RT (retinal thickness), SFChT (subfoveal choroidal thickness).

B-scan Dual-path SD-OCT Biometry

The Colombo is a revolutionary B-scan optical biometer. Unlike the traditional A-scan optical biometer that only involves a one dimensional examination of the eye, the Colombo directs two independent optical paths to scan the cornea and retina separately, so the scans on cornea and retina could be optimized separately. As a result, it is possible to get 4mm corneal and retinal imaging during the acquistion.

DEFINITION OF AXIAL LENGTH

Correct fixation is the key to accurate AXL measurement. However, since children are less cooperative, it is more likely to get fixation loss. The Colombo IOL provides auto- matic real-time fixation check, as a result, incorrect measurements caused by unde- tected poor fixation will be eliminated automatically to ensure the measurements are consistently repeatable.
Axial length is the distance between the central anterior surface of the cornea and ILM at the fovea.

MORE THAN AN OPTICAL BIOMETER
The ONLY optical biometer that can measure choroidal thickness

Studies have found that choroids are thinner in longer, more myopic young adult eyes[2]. The findings suggest that choroidal thickness should be evaluated in myopia management. The Colombo IOL provides HD OCT images and measurement of SFChT for deep study in choroidal layer in myopic eyes. Myopic children have significantly thinner choroids compared to nonmyopic children of similar age, particularly in central foveal regions. The magnitude of difference in choroidal thickness associated with myopia appears greater than would be predicted by a simple passive choroidal thinning with axial elongation. Scott A. Read, Michael J. Collins, Stephen J. Vincent, David Alonso-Caneiro; Choroidal Thickness in Myopic and Nonmyopic Children Assessed With Enhanced Depth Imaging Optical Coherence Tomography. Invest. Ophthalmol. Vis. Sci. 2013;54(12):7578-7586. doi: https://doi.org/10.1167/iovs.13-12772.
