No wonder it’s called “flying flies”!

A patient with symptomatic eye floaters or “Muscae Volitantes” underwent widefield full range 3D SS-OCT examination. On the ultra-deep SS-OCT B-scan image, extensive hyperreflective vitreous opacities and flocculent vitreous strands were clearly visualized floating above the retinal surface (fig.1). 3D reconstruction offered detailed stereoscopic visualization of the vitreous opacity and floaters distribution (gif.). The en face image of vitreous vividly presented the annoying “flying flies” (fig. 2)!

A 100kHz widefield full range SS-OCT  YAlkaid was used in this case, providing excellent tool for visualizing high-resolution details in the vitreous with large scan depth (up to 14mm) and non-invasive method in vitreous disease management.
